Welcome to the Mostly Marys website!

March 17, 2026 announcement:

Hey friends! Mostly Marys is part of a network of musicians taking part in Pickin’ for Democracy, an effort to raise funds for the Movement Voter PAC organized by our friends at the beloved school for bluegrass, Manning Music in Berkeley. In these fraught political times, many of us are looking for a positive way to take action. This is our chance to combine music, community, and activism.

On Saturday, April 18, we will play a house concert in Napa, with our pals the Harry & Mike Trio opening. Seating is limited, so please RSVP to Peggy Yost soon, and no later than April 4th if you are planning to come.

Cost: Suggested minimum donation of $50/person. Larger donations are welcome! All proceeds go to MV-PAC. If you can’t make it, no worries, you can still make a donation to this worthy cause.

Bluegrass feel, sweetly sung: Mostly Marys is an acoustic crowd-pleasing East Bay quintet that plays bluegrass, old-time music, and whatever else fits. Together since 2017, they combine rich harmonies with fiddle, guitar, banjo, blues harp, mandolin, and bass. Mostly Marys have an infectious enthusiasm for bringing joy to their audience with a repertoire that includes traditional tunes as well as modern troubadours: Hazel Dickens and John Prine; Bill Monroe and Patti Griffin; Ola Belle Reed and Townes Van Zandt — and now we’re adding original songs to the mix. At times the listener is blissfully drawn in while at other times foot stomping and dancing can’t be helped.

Check out our Calendar to see where we’re playing next, and you can listen to some tunes on our Music page.
